Preparation In a large, heavy saucepan, cover the farro with a couple inches of water. Cover and bring to a boil. Farro will naturally have a little chew and heartiness to it, even after cooked. Cut cooked sausage into bite-sized pieces and add back to pan, along with roasted tomatoes (and their juices) and kale.
Steps to make Farro with Sausage & Apples:
- Cook Farro as directed on package & set aside.
- In large skillet over high heat cook sausage as whole or take off casing & crumble & cook.
- Remove cooked sausage & set aside. Keep the drippings in pan.
- If pan is too dry add the tblsp of butter
- Add your chopped onion, garlic & Apples and cook 4-5 min. Until tender.
- In the last 2 minutes of cooking add the sausage and Farro to warm it & mix.
- Taste & season as desired.
- Serve warm & enjoy!
