It comes in many different forms, with the base being made of either dried bread, cornbread, or breadcrumbs. A delicious moist vegetarian cornbread stuffing with applesauce, lemon pepper, thyme, and marjoram that goes well with any main dish.

The ingredients needed to make Stuffing:
  1. Prepare 1 lb bulk Italian sausage (sweet or hot)
  2. Make ready 1/2 cup butter
  3. Get 1 large Spanish onion chopped
  4. Get 4 pieces celery chopped
  5. Make ready 2 Granny Smith apples peeled & cored and chopped
  6. Make ready 1 tbsp rubbed sage crumbled
  7. Make ready 1 tsp thyme leaves chopped
  8. Make ready 8 cups cornbread croutons
  9. Get 2 1/2 cups chicken broth

Place stuffing in casserole or baking dish. Add to bread mixture; fold gently until thoroughly combined. Transfer to prepared dish, cover with foil, and bake. The edges are golden and crunchy, the inside is soft.

Steps to make Stuffing:
  1. Preheat oven to 375
  2. Brown sausage and remove from pan. Drain grease.
  3. Add butter to pan and melt over medium heat. Add onion and celery and cook until softened. Add apple and cook until softened. Add herbs and stir.
  4. Pour mixture from pan into oven-safe dish. Add sausage and croutons and mix. Pour chicken broth over mixture. Bake for 30-40 minutes.

Transfer to prepared dish, cover with foil, and bake. The edges are golden and crunchy, the inside is soft. It's wildly flavorful and buttery and filled with herbs and most importantly, a delicious neutral flavor that truly goes with any meal. Stuffing is by FAR my favorite side dish. In fact, Thanksgiving is alllll about the side dishes for me.
