- Next snip the sides of the pastry into strips about 1.5cm in width. Fold the top and bottom pastry over on the narrow sides. Alternate laying the strips over the meat to create the plait effect.
- Brush the plait top with beaten egg and put into a 220°oven for approximately 20 mins.
Put in the centre of your pastry Cut diagonally out from the sausagement each side of the pastry. From the top, put the cut strips over the sausagemeat. Left then right, until you reach the bottom So here we go, sausage plait construction: Pastry unrolled and sausages skinned and squished out - as so…. Fold in alternately to create a plaited look, and seal the ends. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with the remaining fennel seeds.
