- Add the lentils. Cook for 45 mins.

- If the soup has too many veggies, no harm in adding more broth. If too much broth for your taste, try adding carrots or purple potatoes. I like to serve with a warm, seedy, crusty bread.
Add the onions, celery, carrots and garlic. In a large pot combine all ingredients bring to boil. Stir in the water, potatoes, broth, lentils, salt, cumin and cayenne; bring to a boil. You can make lentil and sausage soup in the slow cooker. Add the onions, carrots, celery, and red pepper.
